Technology used in our dental practice

We use the latest technological developments to enhance the quality of dental care that we provide. Here are some examples of 'state of the art' dental innovations:

Software of Excellence dental management software

We think that Software of Excellence is the best dental practice software on the UK market; it enables us to efficiently manage patient's electronic records and appointments.

Plasma curing light

This high intensity blue light sets white filling materials in just a few seconds; this is a fraction of the time needed by conventional halogen or LED lights.

Surgical magnification loupes

The magnifying loupes we use are the same as those used by top surgeons in operating theatres. Fitted with bright LED or fibre optic lights, they make it easier for us to work accurately at the back of the mouth and enhance the quality of patient care.

Digital X-rays

We now use Memory Phosphor Plates in place of conventional dental x-ray films. Once exposed, these plates are placed in a special scanner where the images are digitized user laser light scanning. The images are then instantaneously stored on the computer network and available for viewing on any of the surgery computers. Apart from the advantages of speed and storage, this new technology also provides less exposure to x-ray radiation for the patient and no use of polluting chemicals in the developing process.

Digital photography

Taking digital photographs before, during and after certain dental treatments allows us to accurately record the whole procedure. This can benefit the patient by enhancing the process of communication and education. We can also digitally manipulate images to give patients an idea of what the proposed treatment will look like. When patients are having complex or exacting restorative work carried out, we routinely e-mail images to the dental technician who is working on the case, to help them to provide their best work. We also look back at our library of images and evaluate our work, using it as an educational and research tool.
