ChargesNHS NHSEach dentist has an NHS contract with Eastern and Coastal PCT for providing continuing NHS dental care to our regular children and adults who are exempt from dental charges and for a small number of fee-paying NHS patients. The maximum charge for a complex course of NHS treatment is £204. Most courses of treatment cost £17 or £47 (These charges were correct on January 1st 2012). Dr Downes also has an NHS orthodontic contract for providing orthodontic treatment for patients under 18 years of age with moderate/severe discrepancies (mild cases are no longer funded by the NHS). We would like to encourage parents to bring their children in at an early age for dental health advice and to prevent problems in the future. Further guidance on NHS fees available here. See here for the Kelvin House Dental Practice Freedom of Information Act publication scheme about the general dental services we provide under the National Health Service Act 2006. OrthodonticsPlease see services for further information. Private Dental CareWe believe that your dental health is a very important part of your general health. It is important that we offer you the best possible dental care. We consider private dentistry to be the only way to offer adults personal care, tailored to their needs and desires. Most dental problems can be prevented, or the treatment kept simple if diagnosed early. Payment is on a fee per visit. We always provide patients with a written estimate for any advised dental treatment. Click here to download our 2012 Private Fee Guide. Denplan Care (monthly payment plan to fund your private dental care)Denplan Care is the UK's leading independent preventive dental care programme. With Denplan Care your monthly payments of around £11 to £20 go to funding your regular appointments with us (laboratory fees excluded). A fixed monthly sum helps you to budget for regular affordable preventive dental care, without the fear of costly and unexpected bills. This includes all the care at our practice with the dentist/hygienist you know and trust. Denplan Care includes supplementary insurance to cover towards the cost of treatment received as a result of dental injuries and emergencies in the UK or abroad. If you want to join Denplan, just ask any member of staff for details. PaymentPayment is normally taken for the treatment undertaken at each appointment. You can pay with cash, credit or debit card, cheque up to the guarantee card limit, or by interest-free credit. Interest-free creditWe offer interest-free credit for large courses of dental treatment (e.g. private orthodontic treatment and extensive restorative work involving crowns, veneers, bridges and tooth whitening). You can borrow from £750 to £10,000, paid off over 12-24 months. Cancellation Policy24 hours cancellation notice is required for routine dental appointments to avoid a cancellation charge. This allows the appointment to be offered to others. In the event of late cancellations, we will try to rebook the clinical time. Giving us notice allows us to offer these appointments to others and the possibility of avoiding these charges. Missed appointmentsMissed hygiene appointments will be charged at full fee. Missed dental appointments will be charged as a percentage of the planned treatment.
